☀️Hamann Park, San Jose☀️ (Last visited Dec. 2021)
Welcome to Hamann Park, a great sunny day park for toddlers and preschoolers in West San Jose near the Campbell border. The 2-5 year-old play area is the star here, not because it's particularly nice or modern, but because it's fully fenced and very well-shaded (definitely a combination I appreciated on hot days when my kids were little!). It's fine for older kids too, with two fun play areas for 5-12 year-olds, but those have no shade.
Here's the scoop:
Positives:
🌱Three distinct play areas: a basic age 5-12 structure with stand-alone slide and zip line
(full sun, tanbark); a cool 5-12 climbing structure (full sun, tanbark -- shown above), and a antiquated but *fully-fenced* toddler structure (full shade, sand -- shown below);
🌱Convenient restrooms
🌱Large lawn, picnic tables, tennis courts
Negatives:
❌Layout of play areas, with the two big kid areas separated by the restroom building — completely blocks the view, so you wouldn’t be able to see kids on both at the same time
❌Picnic table areas were really dirty at our last visit — why can’t people clean up after themselves?!
❌There’s a spot on the toddler structure that is not easily accessible to parents — once your kid climbs in there, if for some reason they’re unwilling/unable to get out by themselves, you’re climbing through a tunnel or up a slide to get to them 😂
Overall, it's a solid park for TODDLERS on a hot day — older kids will be in full sun — and for any family in the morning/evening hours.
