Toddler X's Toy Guide: Cars and Trucks and Things that Go

Toddlers love to move, and they love to move things. This list contains Toddler X's recommendations of the best vehicles for toddlers -- both the kind that move toddlers and the kind that toddlers move.

And I would be remiss if I didn't pay homage to the origins of this post's title -- a book that was one of my favorites as a child, and now is one of Toddler X's: Richard Scarry's iconic Cars and Trucks and Things That Go. I still enjoy finding Goldbug on every page, and I'm sure that you and your toddler will too.

Toddler X's Favorite Movers

Anything by Green Toys. Hands down the favorite vehicles in the X household -- we have seven, and Toddler X will be unwrapping a few more at the holidays. See Toddler X's Top 10 Toys for details.
Hape Switchback Racetrack. Both Toddler X and I have spent countless hours enjoying and testing the limits of this simple toy. If Toddler X is playing happily alone in another room, 9 times out of 10, he's playing with his racetrack. See Toddler X's Top 10 Toys for details.

Radio Flyer Walker Wagon. A beautiful, classic toy that transforms from a walker for early toddlers to a perfect toy box for later on. See Toddler X's Top 10 Toys for details.

Kidoozie Funtime Tractor. The only toy we have in our house that lights up and makes noise -- absolutely Toddler X's favorite toy during his early toddler months. See Toddler X's Top 10 Toys for details.

Roll on, toddlers!
